Vijay Varma rose to fame with his stint in Gully Boy. The film witnesses him as Moeen, Ranveer Singh’s on-screen best friend. Apart from that, the actor has been a part of many known projects like Baaghi 3, Ghost Stories, A Suitable Boy amongst others. But did you know Vijay was also supposed to be a part of Sacred Games?
Yes, you heard it right. The actor was ‘locked’ for a very integral part of the show. In fact, Netflix and Casting Chhabra (casting director for the show) had given their nods too. But it was due to Anurag Kashyap that Vijay couldn’t be a part of the show. He has now made some revelations regarding the same and how the co-director ‘threw him out.’
In a conversation with Mid-Day, Vijay Varma revealed about Sacred Games, “They had locked me for one of the parts, one of the significant parts, and Netflix and Mukesh (Chhabra, casting director), and everyone had zeroed in, but Anurag (Kashyap, co-director) changed his mind last minute and he threw me out.”

However, the sweet part is Vijay still hopes to work with Anurag someday. Talking about their equation, he shared, “I can’t call him a mentor or a friend, it is just that he is one director I admire the most. I look up to his work. I think this industry owes a lot to his mind and his capabilities. The way he finds talent is incomparable. He has been a well-wisher. He has promised that he will work with me soon as a director, but that is yet to be fulfilled.”
Well, we’re sure that Vijay Varma has got much better plans in his destiny. Koimoi was the first to previously reveal to you that the actor has been cast for Mirzapur 2.
